AUTO CENTRAL - August 1, 2008: The UK’s leading turbocharger specialist, Turbo Technics, will be unveiling the latest specification of its turbocharger core balancing machine for the North American market at the Associated Diesel Specialists Convention in Las Vegas next week. The VSR Mk4P-NA is designed specifically to balance turbochargers in the North American and Canadian markets, which typically use physically larger cores than their European counterparts.

The Turbo Technics VSR (Vibration Sorting Rig) range has become the global industry standard for dynamically balancing turbocharger cores prior to final assembly and fitting. Since they were first developed over 20 years ago, Turbo Technics VSRs have been adopted by many of the world’s leading turbocharger manufacturers and remanufacturers and remain the only solution to consistent and repeatable core balancing.

The NA-specification (North America) version of the Mk4 VSR has been developed as a result of Turbo Technics predicting a likely rise in prominence of forced induction in these two crucial automotive markets. As a consequence of the importance of improving efficiency and minimising the impact on the environment of the automotive industry, Turbo Technics is anticipating increased interest in smaller capacity, forced induction engines to generate similar levels of performance to existing, large capacity engines but with greater fuel economy and lower carbon emissions.

This has led to the development of this specification machine for the North American continent. The Mk4P-NA encompasses all the features of the existing range of Turbo Technics VSRs; operating speeds up to 250,000rpm, compressed air drive for the turbo core, interchangeable slave housings, five-stage filtration lubricant system and the latest software and touch-screen control. The Mk4-NA also features the built-in grinder to ensure that each machine can achieve a potential throughput of up to 40 units per day, allowing turbo builders and remanufacturers to maximise output.

Commenting on the launch of the Mk4P-NA, Turbo Technics founder and Managing Director Geoff Kershaw said; “The automotive industry as a whole has a responsibility to improve efficiency and reduce emissions wherever possible. We know that smaller forced induction engines tend to be more efficient and less polluting than larger, normally-aspirated engines and anticipate a rise in the use of turbochargers in these two key markets in the future. As a result, we have developed the NA-specification of the VSR to service what we feel will become an increasingly important development area to ensure that both North America and Canada have access to what other markets have found to be the best solution for balancing turbochargers.”

The Mk4P-NA will be unveiled at the ADS convention at the Wynn Las Vegas, which runs from Wednesday 6 – Saturday 9 June 2008. Turbo Technics will be one of only two UK companies to have a presence at the convention. The other is Melett Ltd, a manufacturer of turbocharger components and a supplier to Turbo Technics and which recommends the company’s VSR machines.
