Harley-Davidson’s unexpectedly capable and popular Pan America adventure bike has been on the market for almost a year now, and the aftermarket is beginning to come around with some new and needed PanAm-specific options.

SW-MOTECH had a head start on everyone since it’s the OEM pannier supplier, and they offer a few other bits for the PanAm as well. But their big competitor, Touratech, is in the game as well and offers a complete two-or-three pannier/top case solution for the high-powered Milwaukee machine,  along with a growing selection of other accessories.

Touratech’s complete two-case aluminium pannier setup, the $2,129 Zega EVO X Premium Pannier System, includes the mounting rack. So far, color options include black and only black, while the SW-MOTECH gear from Harley is plain unpainted aluminum. The Touratech panniers come in at 45 liters for the left case and 40.5 for the right, since it has to make room for the exhaust. Adding a 38-liter Zega top case and mounting/luggage rack tacks on another $956, but the case has a mechanism for quick detachment if you want to use the rear rack for other gear or keep the case in your yurt/tent/cabin/lean-to for the night. All of the Touratech Zega panniers include locks, fitted liners for your gear and are waterproof. Numerous tie-down points let you overload the bike at your discretion. Touratech does not list what the panniers weigh.

Beyond that, Touratech also offers Pan America-specific exhaust pipe guards, headlight covers, mounting bars for GPS and a wide selection of soft bags that can go into or be lashed to the panniers and seat if need be. The Touratech website shows most of the bits are in stock as of this posting.

As the number of Pan America riders increase as more bikes are delivered, we’ll likely see other players offer luggage solutions and other kit for the bike, and we’ll post them up if they’re worthy. If you’ve got a Pan America, what aftermarket gear have you added, and how do like the bike?
