Urban bike company, Brik Bikes of the Netherlands is introducing their new, Limited Edition Brik Cruiser, available in the US of A! What makes this bike unique, according to Brik Bikes, is the combination of the shaft drive, the special frame design, and the use of high quality, handmade components.

The frame looks to be made of aluminum. With the super-low step-through frame, it looks both contemporary and different. We didn’t get any geometry numbers in the press release, but it looks to have very relaxed geo with a long-ish chainstay that, in combination, would give you a very stable and comfortable ride.

There are some real benefits to riding a bike with a shaft drive instead of the traditional chain-driven drivetrain. The first being that there is no chain. So, that means no chain stretch, no accidental derail, bent links, constant lubing, and zero greasy fingers (or clothes) on the way to where you are going. Brik Bikes says that the Brik Cruiser comes with a high-quality shaft drive and that it’s a closed system making it maintenance-free.

Brik Bikes say that a unique combination of handmade components was selected for the Brik Cruiser. That includes parts like the handmade Lepper Tourer saddle with matching grips, the Crane Neo Black bell, Rindow Bullet lights, and Odin walnut wooden fenders.

According to Brik, the bike includes walnut fenders that are both weatherproof and durable. These sustainable fenders were made specifically for this bike in Belgium by Odin Wood Design utilizing waterproof glue and three layers of varnish for weatherproofing.

The cool Rindow Bulllet lights that come on the Brik Cruiser are standard equipment. The lights have a sleek design, CNC-machined from aluminum, and are conveniently rechargeable using a USB cable.

The Brik Cruiser retails for €1,495 and comes in this pretty gloss black…very utilitarian. It uses CST Metropolitan Palmbay tires, brakes using a roller brake, and shifts with Shimano Nexus 3.

It’s a very classy looking bike with a nice component selection. If you look on their website, they have an assortment of other shaft and belt drive bikes. If you’re thinking that it would nice to have more than 3 gears, and dyno lighting, those are available as well.
